Crucial Crew

The results of Basildon Crucial Crew are in and the feedback shows it has been the most successful Crucial Crew to date which is a huge achievement for the Partnership. Sixteen Crucial Crew sessions were delivered to around 1,080 Year 6 pupils (age 10 to 11) between January and March 2017. Crucial Crew was developed to provide community safety messages to young people at the important time before they move from primary school into secondary school. Whilst Crucial Crew has been delivered in Basildon for a number of years, more recently the format of the event was changed to ensure the information delivered aligned with local CSP priorities with topics covering gangs, healthy relationships and grooming. The overall event feedback is outlined below: • 84% of pupils rated the event as ‘excellent’ • 82% of pupils stated they felt the event could not have been better • 99% of teachers rated the event as either Crucial Crew is recognised across the County as an excellent early intervention and prevention project and Basildon Community Safety Partnership continue to support and endorse the delivery subject to available funding.
